About Frank
 

Frank O’Brien III was born in Albany, New York. Frankie attended the Albany Academy where he was a member of the 1983 NYS Section II championship hockey team. He attended the University of Notre Dame where he earned varsity letters in hockey and lacrosse. Frank went on to play professional hockey in Sweden for three years before working alongside his father as senior vice president of Fuller & O’Brien, Inc. in Albany, New York. Not only was he successful in the business world, Frankie was an exceptional athlete. He loved fishing, fly fishing, running, cycling, squash, and skiing.

In 1996, Frank married the love of his life Keri Cunningham O’Brien and they were blessed with three children. In October 2004, at the age of 38,Frankie was diagnosed with an advanced inoperable glioblastoma brain tumor. For over two years, Frank underwent radiation with traditional chemotherapy, chemotherapy alone, growth inhibitor compounds, and trial drugs mixed with growth inhibitor compounds. He considered himself lucky to be able to afford the experimental drugs proposed to him on a visit to Dana Farber Institute in Boston. Frank battled brain cancer with his wife and three children by his side. As the disease progressed, he accepted his fate and the uncertainty of his future.

Frank O’Brien III passed away on December 14th, 2006 at the age of 40.
